Welcome Message from the VPPC2016 General Chairs

Professor Jianxin Shen, Zhejiang University, China

Professor Z.Q. Zhu, University of Sheffield, UK

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 13th IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC2016) which is organized by  Zhejiang University and will be held in Hangzhou, China on Oct. 17-20, 2016, following the very successful VPPC2015 in Montreal, Canada, and VPPC2014 in Coimbra, Portugal, as well as ten earlier Conferences.
VPPC is one of the global flagship conferences for advanced vehicles, with particular reference to electric transportation to promote green technologies. It is very timely to hold the VPPC in China again, particularly when electric vehicles are at an accelerated pace for development and commercialisation, with very strong support from the Chinese government.
In order to promote clean technologies for future transportation systems, this conference aims to provide a forum for sharing the state-of-the-art knowledge, experience and ideas in all aspects for vehicle power and propulsion, via keynote speeches, technical papers, tutorials and industry exhibitions.
Hangzhou, the conference site, has been enjoying a prosperous history of over 2200 years. It was the national capital city of China, and is currently the provincial capital of Zhejiang. As one of the most renowned and delicate Chinese cities, Hangzhou is well known for its beautiful natural reserves. It was admired by Marco Polo, the famous Italian traveller in the 13th century, as the Most Beautiful and Elegant City in the World. It is now listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage. Moreover, transportation to Hangzhou is convenient, as Hangzhou has its own international airport, and is only one hour by fast train away from the largest Chinese city, Shanghai. Hangzhou is also an example city for the xEV buses, taxis and passenger cars.
The VPPC2016 will be held at Zhejiang Hotel, a garden hotel enclosed by mountains and lakes in the Hangzhou City. Many famous scenic spots of the West Lake are within several kilometers range around the hotel. The beautiful landscapes and the considerate services will promisingly bring you a perfect experience during the conference.
We look forward to meeting you at Hangzhou for the VPPC2016!
Warmest regards.
Prof. Jianxin Shen, and Prof. Z.Q. Zhu.
